You&#8217;re going to look super silly. It&#8217;s ok to close yourself in a room (even the bathroom) to do it!&nbsp;</p><p>Introducing the best way to stomp out the DEEP emotions using breath and movement:</p><p>&#8230;award-winning for the most powerful nervous system exercise for clearing generations of trauma!</p><p><em>cue the trumpets</em></p><p>The Chicken Stomp! &#128037;</p><p>Have you ever done the chicken dance at a wedding? This is kind of like that, with rules.</p><p>Rule #1: Breathing happens EXCLUSIVELY through your nose. In and out. You might need toh old a handkerchief or tissue during the exercise to deal with any snot. This prevents you from hyperventilating.&nbsp;</p><p>Rule #2: Adhere to Rule #1 so you don&#8217;t get lightheaded or pass out.&nbsp;</p><p>Rule #3: Don&#8217;t do this before bed, it&#8217;s like the best cup of coffee without any side effects</p><p><strong>Instructions: Perform for up to two minutes to start</strong></p><p>&#8226; Assume the chicken dance posture: Make your arms like chicken wings by folding your elbows so the outside of your hand is on the outside of your ribcage. (You&#8217;ve done this before, I&#8217;m sure)</p><p>&#8226; Take short, rapid, forceful breaths in and out of your nose</p><p>&#8226; Start stomping your chicken feet</p><p>&#8226; Flap your chicken wings&nbsp;</p><p>&#8226; Think: happy chicken energy while you try to coordinate it all (it might take a bit)</p><p>Personal note: I exhale, stomp, and flap down at the same time.</p><p><strong>The Science Behind It:</strong></p><p>&#8226; Nasal breathing increases nitric oxide</p><p>&#8226; Coordinated movement improves vagal tone</p><p>&#8226; Play reduces threat response</p><p>&#8226; Rhythm regulates nervous system</p><p>Two minutes is like a great cup of coffee! The psychiatrist that taught me this had some of his patients with severe PTSD do it for over 30 minutes. It&#8217;s a full workout at that level!&nbsp;</p><p>Proceed witg caution. conductor. While the primary motor cortex gives the main commands, it's the cerebellum - our "little brain" - that fine-tunes every action. Think of the cerebellum as your body's timing expert, constantly predicting and adjusting movements to make them smooth and accurate. This is what allows a surgeon's steady hand or a musician's flowing fingers. The true magic happens in how these brain regions work together, creating a symphony of precise movement that we usually take for granted.</p><p><strong>Cosmic Precision:</strong></p><p>Mercury was the messenger to the gods, and escort to the underworld. Mercury rules the lungs, above the diaphragm - our personal earth - and the digestive system below it.</p><p>Mercury governs detailed thinking and communication, while Virgo, Mercury&#8217;s sign, emphasizes accuracy, efficiency, and careful analysis. Together, they reflect the focus and meticulousness needed for precision in thought and action. It also gets us into our egos in the best way possible so we can be very pragmatic about what needs to happen.</p><p>In this way, precise stomping helps us activate our third chakras. because that area of the body looks like the Virgo symbol at the micro and macro levels. Our digestive systems heavily regulate (or dysregulate) our nervous systems. </p><p><strong>Target Practice:</strong></p><p>There are two ways to do this:</p><ol><li><p>Choose a target on the floor. If you have 12 inch tiles in your kitchen, you might pick opposite corners of one tile. You could place a sticker on the floor as long as you aren&#8217;t risking slipping. Then proceed to stomp, landing on the target OR</p></li><li><p>Place that sticker on the top of your foot or shoe. If you&#8217;re doing it barefoot, draw a dot on your foot with a marker. Let the stomp come from the sticker or dot.&nbsp;</p></li></ol><p>Tips:</p><p>&#8226; Be as precise and present as possible</p><p>&#8226; Notice the control required</p><p>&#8226; Feel the power of Alarms go off, your body gets ready for action, and your mind zooms in on whatever's bugging you.
